Facebook, the hottest name in the social networking arena is now the most popular buzzword among the younger generation for the last six years. This popularity has signalled a red alert for Google. In fact, Facebook has superseded Google in terms of usage for social media purposes. Users now prefer Facebook instead of Orkut, the simplest reason being security and inclusion of various games and information received on the site.
Users on the site need information at the click of a button. Face book is aware of this and hence tries to update its sites everyday with a new concepts. The recent expansion in the site is the inclusion of a new software platform 'Open Graph'. This web page will not only work as a search engine but will guide users with the latest information. Face book has also joined hands with Yahoo and Microsoft, the hard core competitors of Google. This has just fueled the fire thus enhancing the battle between social network providers to boost there aggression towards Google.
According to Mark Zuckerberg, chief executive of social networking, “Open Graph is a new trans formative site which will help the users to find all new innovative ways of exploring the world of Internet”. He also added to the feature of the new website, “The chief tool will be the 'Like' icon. Users will click on the button next to an article to share it on their Facebook profiles without leaving the other website”. He is expecting more 400 million users for this new service.
This will explicitly reduce the ratings of Google in the market. Although, not much has been done to provide a privacy to the Internet users the coming innovations will do it. This is truly a battling year for Google as it has to beat out not only its ex-partner Apple but also confront Facebook which stands its way.
