A Tough Question to Answer: To Eat Well or To Stay Slim

To begin with the line of Geneen Roth, “Your relationship to food is an unexpected path to almost everything. It is doorway, not a wall, an opening, not a closing. All that you believe about love, change, joy and possibility is revealed in how, when and what you eat.” This book 'Women, Food, and God: An Unexpected Path to Almost Everything' is dedicated to those women who love to eat but are concerned greatly about being over weight.

Geneen Roth in her book has always come out with things that are pithy. Without any ornate words she explains how women are emotionally related to food. Although women struggle with weight loss issues but can hardly could cope up with them. This book gives enlightens & helps to get rid of overeating problems.

A perfect book for spiritual awakening and a permanent end to compulsive eating. In most of her previous books she has described how emotional, spiritual voids tend to make you unhappy or broken-hearted. It also gives the specific processes and intuitive ways to over come it.

According to her, the best way to underly the calorie count issues and weight loss problems is to choose food based on nourishment and self care. It is not being religious to have spiritual views about a way of living relating to food, not planning about food. The constant fight of the women with emotional eating has resolved the roots of eating disorders. Through her book Roth has tried to portray the elegant relation of women which she tends to share with the food she loves to eat.

This book is a perfect life changer where she gives a message making the fair sex understand that the way one eats is how he thinks and behaves. Eating is related to our nature and the way we act. Roth tries to explain how destructive the dieting industry is as it tends to kill the soul and prevent us from attending the divinity and come closer to God. Eating helps in the gracious and perfect transformation of our soul. So instead of hogging we should eat moderately and know to love our body. Our body is a gift to us with divinity of expressing our thoughts through our Soul.

Hence what we eat is a reflection of our true self. It is the self realization of our being on this beautiful place Earth.

A Dream has its Wings

When Wright Brothers invented the aeroplane, they must have never thought that their invention can be the dreams of small boys. Far off in the country where aspiration was far from inspiration, a small boy in the extreme south of India dares to dream of flying high in the sky - by owning it. Born in the Iyengar family, this young boy comes from a remote place. The only thing he had apart from education from a very simple village school was 'Determination'. From a village school to Sainik school was not very impossible for a boy like him. The fire in his eyes to be someone and the hardihood made everything possible for him. He had not time to look back but fulfill his desires.

It is said that 'to be confident is good, but over confident spoils it'. In case of this small boy who is a young lad graduated from National Defence Academy as a commissioned officer of the Indian Army, it was just the opposite. He served the Indian Army for eight long years and later resigned from the designation and went back to his home town with a minimal gratuity.

Such should be a dream where people tend to take any risk and reach any level just to be there where they want to be. Visualizing yourself in a position and reaching unto that is possible only for those who believe in themselves. This young man returning back to his home town started cultivating silkworm in a barren land. This action not only gave him money, fame, recognition but also brought prosperity to the place.

The year 1995 brought good news for many individuals as government encouraged entrepreneurship. Hence, on the brightful sunny day of 3rd December 1997, the first low cost airline was launched.

You could be wondering about who this guy really is. Well, it is none other then Captain Gorur Ramaswamy Iyengar Gopinath or 'Gopi' as he popularly known to his dear ones. He was the founder of Deccan Aviation and the first person to launch such a cheap cost flight. His only aim was that every person of India should have the opportunity to fly once in a life time. It did not leave any stone unturned to make it possible even for the second tier places like Madurai, Mangalore and many other from the metropolitan cities.

In the year 2007 it merged with Kingfisher and now flying high with it. C.R. Gopinath is known as the “Father of the low-cost airline”. The concept of flying at cheap rates is a new revolution in the aviation industry.

Believe in Love... It Helps You Survive

I saw love in his eyes, I saw love in his care, I saw love in his words, I have seen love in every form of him. I did not believe in the this four lettered word. My concept, the way I derived the term love totally changed after I read the book P.S. I Love You. A fictitious book but never did I get so carried away. Only after reading this book is when I learnt what love is. I saw in him a different person which I was missing for the last five years. I really did not know that this single book can change my thoughts towards the most passionate feeling on earth. Here in this novel Gerry dies leaving his wife Holly. Gerry knew the hardship Holly would have to face after his death. He also knew the breakdown which she might go through after losing him. There was no way that Gerry could help her out.

After his death, Holly could not forget any instances where Gerry was present. She was in a complete state of shock . Her friends, family and relatives after trying their best couldn't bring her to the normal state. After few days Holly receives a packet with letters written by her dead husband. These letters bring back her lost confidence and make her strong enough to laugh again at life. This is love for me, the unconditional and unexplainable love.
It is not that you should always express your love, sometimes without converting your feelings into words just making that person feel your presence. Love is to believe and one should as it makes you grow.

Is it Fate or Luck that Rules Us?

Right from childhood the only thing I have been hearing is “In order to be successful you need 80% of hard work and 20% of luck”. If such is the case then where does fate stand. Does it not have any value in our life? I would rather say that “80% is hard work, 19% is luck and 1% is fate”. This 1% is of vital importance. The reason is very simple, how hard you work, how much your luck favors you. But if you are not destined with it you can never achieve it.

As Shakespeare said “Life is not a bed of roses, nor a bed of thorns, Life is but life and we have to live it”. It is very much true. We should know how to live our life in all circumstances. We should try to gain knowledge and experience from all the phases of life. Each day, life teaches us a new lesson and it depends upon us how we take it. Nobody knows what is could be the next turn of our life. The lesson we learn from the practical set up of life leads us to be a winner in the end.

The book Slumdog Millionaire is a story of such a boy. He fought against the most deadly disease of the world 'Poverty'. A simple tiffin boy born in the slums has seen the worst things of life, right from prostitution to murder, from destitution to hunger. He led a life of a vagabond wandering from place to place along with his elder brother. The only thing which made him survive was his honesty and hard work. He never thought of luck or fate until one day a call from a television reality show changed his fate. However everything is not so easy to get. The young tiffin boy was put jailed with charges of cheating. On interrogation in the cell it was found that he answered all the questions on sheer experience he had learnt from his hard times.

Therefore as said earlier, Hard work, experience, luck all fall short before fate. As 'no one gets more and no one gets less'. A perfect fiction book written by Vikas Swarup to believe in all the four essential aspects of life. However for me 'Fate' is the priority.

Love Can Speak What You Need to Understand

'Love' is the word which rules the world, steals the heart, makes you cry, forces you to laugh. So powerful but yet so serene, so tranquil so quiet. Love, the most expressive gesture of our life can speak as well. It is love that tells you how much someone cares for you, it makes you relaxed when your heart is broken. It is love that wipes your tears and brings a smile to your face. However if this heavenly feeling of emotion is not expressed in an infallible way then the commitment besotted with it gets bamboozled. When you love someone it is essential that you comprehend what the eyes speak, what the gestures reveal and what the actions convey.

Gary Chapman in his book, 'The Five Love Languages' has tried to bring out that hidden secret which is known to all but not understood and practiced by any. He says that sometimes although we express our love in a tender, affectionate and ardent way we fail to understand what more is required. As for example he writes ; He sends you flowers when what you really want to talk. She gives you a hug when you really need a home-cooked meal. This lack of articulation in expression alleviates the undercurrent which flows between two persons. In this book he gives solutions with the right principle and right language to use in order to be expressive.

According to him the five languages of Love are
Quality Time : In this life where everyone is racing against each other, we hardly give time to our dear ones. Hence Gary Capman says however busy the schedule is always find a time to say a few words of love. It really heals the pain.
Words of Affirmation: This plays a very vital role in any relationship. Gary says that if you cant be true to the person you love, you can never be true to yourself.
Gifts : Gifts though materialistic makes one feel special. Not necessarily should be the costly crystal and solitaire gifts, a single red rose could be good enough to express all your emotions.
Acts of Service : Helping each other in small works makes a lot of difference and helpd developing the relation.
Physical Touch: A small hug, a caring touch and a supportive hand holding works wonders.

'The Five Love Languages', a gospel that makes you fall in love once again. Reading this book will not only help you rectify loopholes but also encourage you to enhance your strong points. This book helps in the transforming and maintaining relations with a meaning, confidence and expression.

Who is after the Score? - Parents or the Children

“If you are not able score more than 90% then you will not be given food”; “You have to run faster to get the first prize”'; “Look at your friend, she is so talented and brilliant, stands first, participates in all co-curricular activities, and you a useless fellow.” are some of the aphorisms that are posed before the generation of today. Do todays parents want their kids to be Albert Einsteins, Galileos or Newtons... just as quickly as possible?. People who have contributed in all the educational and creative fields were, in their childhood, normal kids with average IQs. It was out of their sheer dedication, voluntary efforts and sincierity that they left their marks in this world.

Parents have become too competitive!! . May be this is one of the main reasons why we get to hear suicide incidents just after or before the 10th and 12th class examination results. The fear of not being able to achieve their parents expectations provoke them to take appalling decisions.

Children should be given the liberty to study and choose the subjects or fields which interest them the most. In no ways should they be imposed with our dreams and hopes. Being their parents it is our duty and responsibility to provide them with the best, to stand like a strong pillar when they need our support. But when it comes to fulfilling their dreams let them do it. Fuel their passions by guiding them through the ways of life.

Let the flower bloom in its own way. Lets not expect a bud to bloom into a flower in just one day. We are not Gods but his children and are destined to help his little angels.

Don't Sprint the Marathon by Ragunathan V is a book on fiction related on how to deal with the generation of today. It gives out the example of some simple people who turned out to be well known figures. The book Don't Sprint the Marathon helps and guides you to sparkle in life. Law of Nature or Law of God

Every thing on this earth is set with a law. Law of Nature is said to be the most powerful among any laws as it is governed by the most superior and powerful force GOD. No one can dare to challenge Nature. God can change laws according to the requirements to bring stability and balance in nature. Neck and neck is the Law of Spirit, we don't believe on its existence but at the same time cannot overlook it. The simple reason behind is the feeling of our dear one whom we lost in any form. Sometimes we tend to believe in spirits and their presence as there are several instances where we get to feel the presence of our beloved one who left for his heavenly abode.

I don't know how far it is true. Somewhere in the 80's after the fatal air accident, a depressed mother used to communicate with her daughter through planchette. Her daughter was said to be an air hostess killed in the accident. What would you term this as? According to the mother she proved it by the continuous cursive writing telling about the place and how she is there. Such things are far beyond the understandings of science and technology.

The same feeling was of Khorshed Bhavnagri and his wife when they lost both their sons in a fatal car accident. The book The Laws Of The Spirit World is a non-fictitious book describing what the parents felt after loosing their sons to the hands of death. In this book of reality he describes how the world fell on them when they saw their dead bodies lying silently. The house which echoed with the laughter and non-ending talks were dead silent. It was only after a few months that they received a message from the other world from where their son tries to communicate with them. He tells them about what actually they are going through and what happens after death. A very beautiful and touchy piece of story about parents with whom their sons communicate from the other world
