The Blue Sapphire Month

It is well known to us that gemstones symbolize self-confidence and humility which helps us in grooming ourselves for any future malicious effects. Indian astrology holds a strong view on the effects and affects of gemstones in the life of every human being. Among all the planets Saturn is considered to be a powerful planet. This ringed planet can change the entire cycle of the human fate.

It is like quick sand, people falling into it which definitely have to suffer for a long time. In this case it is Blue Sapphire who plays a role in balancing the life and hence helps in reviving the spirit. It works as a catalyst reducing the ill-effect and bringing prosperity and wealth if suits you. A compound of Aluminum (Al) and Oxygen (O₂), gives a lush of bluish hues when mixed with Cobalt. A durable gemstone measuring nine (9) in the Moh's scale of hardness belongs to the element of air with the cosmic color of violet.

Apart from the normal Sapphire, the other type of Sapphire is the 'Star Sapphire' which is composite of a distinct mineral Rutile. The Star Sapphire is given a particular cut so as to give a distinctive look to the gemstone called as the 'Asterism'. It is due to the presence of the mineral giving the gemstone a star like figure and a smooth surface as well. The most common rays of the Star Sapphire are four - six in number but the most expensive is one which exhibits twelve rays.

Sapphire are most commonly found in Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Africa and India. Thailand gives the famous cuts like oval and round cabochons to the gemstone. The most famous Blue Star Sapphire is called 182 Carats and is also known as the 'Star of Bombay'

QWERTY : A Messaging Keyboard

Qwerty is generally found in cell phones, keyboard of laptops and computers and not to forget the typewriter. The word QWERTY is pronounced phonetically as /ˈkwerti/. Look at the keyword of any writing electronic devices and see the word formed in the first line. As said these first six characters come in the top row of the letters at the far left. The word was designed by Christopher Latham Sholes in 1873 for Sholes and Glidden typewriters, but later sold it to Remington. The Remington's appeared to be the first typewriters.

Similar to QWERTY is the QWERTZU keyboard. This keyboard is generally used in the Central and Eastern Europe zone. The later differs from the former in three significant ways: The first change if you look at the keyboards is the change of the alphabets like 'Y' by 'Z', the reason behind it that the German use Z instead of Y. Again 'T' and 'Z' often appear next to each other and it minimizes the effort to type the characters. Such type of keywords are generally used in Switzerland and some parts of Poland. Well the difference is very simple – the difference of region leads to the change in the setting of the alphabets. If you have noticed your cell phone is also designed in the form of QWERTY, especially the smart phones. With such designs and patterns comes the sophisticated cellphone Black Berry. The Blackberry functions as a Personal Digital Assistant which helps in primarily all the network activities. This cellphone is like a minicomputer in your palm. Surprise your brother by gifting him with this mind-blowing electronic piece. It provides all the facilities from auto-text, auto-correct, text prediction, support for many languages, keyboard shortcuts, text emotions, push email, push Facebook and Myspace notifications, push Ebay notifications, push instant messaging with BlackBerry Messenger, Google Messenger, ICQ, Windows Live messenger and Yahoo Messenger.

Peridot is a vivid green color gemstone having a slight touch of gold. A gemstone which suits the summer and hence a gemstone for the month of August. Apart from Peridot it is also known as 'chrysolite'. For the Greek it is a 'gold stone' and also called as the 'olivine'. However the name 'Peridot' comes from the Greek word 'Peridona' which means 'to give richness'. This gemstone is also said to derive its name from the French word 'Peritot' which literally means 'vague or unclear'. It corresponds to the astrological sign Leo, Virgo, Scorpio and Sagittarius and vibrates the numerological numbers 5,6, and 7. The bewildering color of the green gemstones are apparent due to the presence of fine traces of iron. If we term it chemically then Peridot has iron magnesium silicate. The presence of these minerals, especially iron, intensifies the color of the gemstone. The gemstone comes in yellowish green and brownish green color. The green color of the gemstone reflects a radiant green light which esteems the green shine. This might be the reason it is also known as 'emerald of the evening'. Rakhi – The Bond

Rakhi or Raksha Bandhan, in layman terms, can be defined as a thread, just a simple thread or to be more precise a decorated thread to tie round the wrist. In actuality it has got a deeper meaning. Raksha Bandhan is celebrated in India as one of the auspicious festivals. On this day the sister fasts for her brother and ties Rakhi around his wrist. Rakhi is a beautiful bond which intensely signifies the relation between the brother and sister. The emotional bonding which starts from the birth of the either and continues for a life time.

The thread is just a medium to give the relation a stronger base.
Raksha Bandhan although has become modernized in its style of celebration with decorated designer Rakhis, expensive gifts and parties. But in olden times, it was not only a festival to celebrate but also an emotion expressed by a sister for her brother. It was a way through which the sister asked God to keep her brother hale and hearty. In return, the brother promises to protect his sister from all sorts of dangers and troubles. In ancient days, the thread-bonding ceremony was celebrated in a very simple way with non-expensive gifts and a very simple Rakhi thread which had color of the sun and in the center had some auspicious signs such as the hindu 'swastika' or 'om'.

This festival has mythological importance which has really made it worthy of being celebrated with trust and belief. It is said that when Lord Krishna, in Mahabarata, killed Sisupal with his Chakra (a weapon), his index finger started bleeding. At this Draupadi, the wife of Pandavas, tore a piece of her garment and tied on his finger. Being pleased with this, Lord Krishna promised to protect her and repay every thread of the cloth.
Lord Krishna did keep his promise of saving her sister from the shame and humiliation. It so happened that out of jealousy, Kauravas invited their cousins Pandavas for a 'Chosar' (gamble) game. It was decided that they had to pay something at every game they lost. Unfortunately the Pandavas lost everything and at last it was Draupadi on which they betted and lost the game. The Kauravas took the utmost opportunity of this situation. They brought Draupadi before everyone pulling her by the hair and started ripping off her clothes. Draupadi, the queen of Hastinapur, went on pleading but all went unheard. That is when Krishna helped her out and kept his promise. This is not only mythological story but a hope of every sister to be helped by her brother in time of predicament.
